In August 1965 the first commercial brew of the GUINNESS® Malaysian Brewery (Sungei Way Brewery, near Kuala Lumpur) is successfully completed, six weeks ahead of schedule.

It is officially opened by the first Prime Minister of the recently independent Malaysia,
Tunku Abdul Rahman, on the 19th of March 1966
